St Maarten 28 Feb 2019

One of our favourite Caribbean destinations. This surprising little island embodies a duel personality, half French and half Dutch, with each side trying to out-smile the other. it’s shores, scalloped with stunning white sand beaches and it’s interior dotted with blue lagoons and green hills, make St Maarten one of the top Caribbean holiday destinations. We spent our morning at Maho beach by the International airport and our afternoon in Philipsburg the capital of the Dutch side.

Grand Turk 26 February 2019

Grand Turk Island is the capital island of the Turks and Caicos archipelago, in the Atlantic Ocean. It’s dotted with the remains of salt ponds and windmills from the island’s sea salt industry, prevalent from the 17th to 20th century. The 19th century Grand Turk Lighthouse is perched on a rocky bluff in the north. Beaches with clear water ring the island, which is home to wild horses and donkeys. This was our best destination so far mainly due to the friendliness of the locals. We went on a glass bottomed boat to view the amazing sea life and coral.

We decided to go to Cocoa Beach for some relaxation and shopping. We ended up in an Irish Bar watching the Rugby!

Sun-kissed beaches and art-deco beuties make an alluring backdrop to Miami’s other charms – a burgeoning arts scene, creative cuisine and blazing nightlife. Few cities are as blessed as Miami when it comes to natural beuty. Sparkling shores lapped by aquamarine waters set the stage for a memorable array of adventures, from sunrise strolls along peaceful stretches of Mid-Beach to scenic paddles in search of manatees off Virgina Key. You can look for colourful bird species whilw walking the trails of Oleta River State Park, or simply enjoy some downtown greenery while lounging in Bayfront Park.

Friday 22 February Key West

Weather 27 degrees, town full of American surprises and excellent food. Went on a road train trip to see all the sights it was well worth the cost. To much to describe in this blog but here we go.

Key west, a U.S. island city, is part of Florida Keys archipelago, it’s also Florida’s southernmost point, lying roughly 90 miles north of Cuba. Famed for its pastel-hued, conch style houses, it’s a cruise ship stop also accessible from the mainland via the Overseas Highway. It’s known more for its coral reefs – destination for diving and snorkelling – than for its beaches.

19th 20th February 2019 New Orleans

New Orleans is a Louisiana City on the Mississippi River, near the Gulf of Mexico. Nicknamed the “Big Easy”, it’s known for it’s round-the-clock nightlife, vibrant live music scene and spicy, singular cuisine reflecting its history as a melting pot of French, African and American cultures. Embodying its festive spirit is Mardi Gras, the late winter carnival famed for raucous costumed parades and street parties.

The home of jazz, of Creole culture, architecture and cuisine, together with the influence of voodoo makes for a heady mix. New Orleans is quite unlike any other American city as a result of its Franco-Spanish background with a sprinkling of other nationalities thrown in.

Pity it deluged down with rain both days, enjoyed Alligator and Chips though! Enjoyed a trip down the river on the Creole Queen.
